The king of amber, or blue amber, comes from the Dominican Republic from an extinct tree - a legume called Hymenea protera. Its age is estimated at 15 to 40 million years. It is one of the rarest types of amber and is specific for its color and optical properties. Its color itself is honey yellow to brownish, but when you place a cut and polished stone on a black background, it absorbs the green waves of the light spectrum and turns green. It has different shades under different lighting conditions, but its color stands out best in direct sunlight.
The amber stone in this ring is set on a dark background to highlight its uniqueness. It contains tiny inclusions, probably of organic origin. During fossilization, amber was exposed to volcanic activity tens of millions of years ago. As a result of high temperatures in the ground, probably during a fire or volcanic activity, it then fossilized again.
