Product detailed description
A bracelet made of genuine Baltic amber is lightweight and very pleasant to the touch. It looks most beautiful in the sunlight, when it glows with a radiant glow. Over time, its color deepens and the patterns on the beads become more pronounced. This is because it is a gemstone of organic origin, much like coral, for example.
In Asian cultures, amber is one of the treasures of Buddhism. Buddhists (and others) believe it is a gemstone with a soul. It calms the mind and aids concentration during meditation.
The bracelet is strung on elastic Lycra, which does not stretch out and is long-lasting.
Material:
- natural Baltic amber
- elastic Lycra
Origin of the amber: Poland
You will receive the bracelet shown in the photo. It is shipped in a gift jewelry box.
What is amber
Baltic amber, also known as succinite, comes from various species of the now-extinct conifer Pinus succinifera. It is estimated that there were as many as 350 species of these conifers. Of all types, Baltic amber has the highest concentration of succinic acid, which makes up to 8% of its total weight.
The richest deposits are estimated to be located in the Kaliningrad region, as well as in northern Poland, Lithuania, and along the Baltic Sea coast. Its age is estimated at approximately 28 to 54 million years. It is older than the Baltic Sea itself.
Baltic amber is typically transparent, semi-transparent, or completely opaque—known as “milky”—beneath a yellow-brown layer of oxidized crust. It offers a full range of colors, from snow-white to beige, lemon yellow, honey, orange, red, and brown. Polish scientist Adam Chetnik defined around 200 variations in his Small Dictionary of Amber Varieties.
But the diversity of this organic gemstone does not end with its colors and forms. Nature has truly played with amber, “painting” thousands of beautiful, utterly unique patterns within it. It could easily be exhibited at the Louvre alongside the world’s most famous painters.
The colors in the photographs may vary slightly from the actual colors depending on your screen settings.
