A bracelet made of Baltic amber in the shape of small cylinders.
Weight: 4.5 g
Dimensions of the amber cylinders: 11 x 5.5 mm
Product detailed description
The bracelet is made of raw amber nuggets, which we’ve left with their natural patina and gently sanded. This patina formed over millions of years through the natural oxidation of the amber itself. It feels rougher to the touch than polished amber and has a darker color.
After wearing it for a while, however, it acquires a velvety sheen and molds beautifully to your wrist. It will become a part of you, to the point where you won’t want to leave home without it.
Amber is lightweight and doesn’t feel cold to the touch like some minerals. Over time, its color deepens and the patterns on the beads become more pronounced. This is because it is a gemstone of organic origin, much like coral, for example.
In Asian cultures, amber is one of the treasures of Buddhism. Buddhists (and others) believe it is a gemstone with a soul. It calms the mind and aids concentration during meditation.
Origin of the amber: Poland
You will receive the bracelet shown in the photo. It will be shipped in a gift jewelry box.
What is Amber
Baltic amber, also known as succinite, originates from various species of the now-extinct conifer Pinus succinifera. It is estimated that there were as many as 350 species of these conifers. Of all types, Baltic amber has the highest concentration of succinic acid, which makes up as much as 8% of its total weight.
The richest deposits are estimated to be located in the Kaliningrad region, followed by northern Poland, Lithuania, and along the Baltic Sea coast. Its age is estimated to be approximately 28 to 54 million years. It is older than the Baltic Sea itself.
Baltic amber is typically transparent, semi-transparent, or completely opaque—known as “milky”—beneath a yellowish-brown layer of oxidized crust. It comes in a wide range of colors, from snow-white to beige, lemon yellow, honey, orange, red, and brown. Polish scientist Adam Chetnik defined around 200 variations in his Small Dictionary of Amber Varieties.
But the diversity of this organic gemstone doesn’t end with its colors and forms. Nature has truly played with amber, “painting” thousands of beautiful, utterly unique patterns within it. It could easily be exhibited at the Louvre alongside the world’s most famous painters.
The colors in the photographs may vary slightly from the actual colors depending on your screen settings.
